Germanium long wave pass filter is a special optical device. The transparent band of the germanium substrate is between 2-12 μ m, and after exceeding 12 μ m, the transmittance begins to decrease and the absorption gradually increases. In the 5-12 μ m wavelength range, the absorption of germanium substrates is relatively small, making them advantageous for coating. Its working principle is based on optical interference and diffraction. When light passes through a filter, it interacts with the internal structure of the filter. Due to the different wavelength energy relationships of light, their interaction with the filter structure will also vary. Usually applied in fields such as biomedical, environmental monitoring, and geological exploration.
