Doped calcium fluoride (Eu:CaF2) is an inert and transparent material as one of the phosphors with effective excitation in the near ultraviolet range. The average light output is 24,000 photons * MeV-1, and the refractive index is similar to that of many photomultiplier Windows and photocoupled compounds. Eu:CaF2 emits a large fluorescent emission wavelength of 435nm, which is a good match for photocathode photomultiplier tubes. It is used in biomedical imaging, therapy, photonics, ultraviolet sensor, filtration, drug therapy, low-energy photon detection and other industries.
