Calcium fluoride biconvex lenses have a wide transmittance spectral range (180nm-8.0 μ m), high damage threshold, low fluorescence, and high uniformity. The physical properties are relatively soft and the surface is prone to scratches. It is used for laser collimation and is used as a substrate for various optical components.
