Barium fluoride material has a high transmittance from the 200nm-11um region. Barium fluoride is prone to cracking and is highly sensitive to thermal shock. It can be polished well and etched. It can be coated with reflective film, anti reflective film, filter film, spectroscopic film, polarizing film, and metallization film systems.
